So what if you’ve had little design experience but have a whole bunch of ideas and want to get amongst the action by trying your hand at creating earth moving tee designs? Well our monthly SMACKDOWN is calling your name!
What is the SMACKDOWN?
You’re probably thinking ‘what on earth is that’?! We thought exactly the same when our Marketing team first filled us in, but turns out it’s our very own monthly design competition where our punters submit their own designs to the site for 1-daytee customers to vote on. We’ll then produce and sell the top three designs with the most votes on 1-daytee..So how exactly does the SMACKDOWN work?
At the start of the month we’ll announce a new SMACKDOWN theme that all designs MUST be based around. We’ll then open the floor to submissions and most importantly voting! Designers should be prepared for brutal campaigning and fierce rivalry - the weak will wither under the strain, while the tough with rise to the top.We’ll then tally up the results and get busy turning the winning designs into actual 1-daytees. In a mere month your design could go from a whirlwind of ideas to a full-fledged, real-life 1-daytee. We hope you’ll be able to handle the emotional and physical demands of your newly created fame!
Who can vote in the SMACKDOWN?
Customers who are logged in and have previously made at least one purchase on either of our sites - 1-day.co.nz or 1-daytee.co.nz. We’re pretty smart here at 1-daytee, we don't want people creating multiple accounts so they can vote numerous times on their favourite design and we also want to make sure the winning design is actually a design that our everyday customers want to buy. Like we said - all you need to vote is one purchase on your account record, ever, from either of our sites, we’re not asking the earth, well we don’t think so anyway….How do I vote in the SMACKDOWN?
Eligible customers can vote by clicking the "Thumbs up" button for as many designs as they want, but the catch if you like is - only once per design. If you change your mind you can remove your votes at any time by clicking "Remove" located next to the text ‘1-vote from you’. If you can’t see the “Thumbs Up” button chances are you aren’t logged in or aren’t eligible to vote (see conditions above).Why can I only see ‘??’ where the vote totals for the top four entries should be?
In the heat of battle, the vote totals of the four leading designs will be concealed in a cloud of dust and smoke. Not only will this make the whole race more dramatic and keep pranksters from trying to rig the vote. But more importantly, since we're going to sell the three designs with the most votes, letting you see the winners would mean you’d know exactly which tees were going to be sold in advance. And where’s the fun in that we ask? We like to keep everyone on their toes!Will 1-daytee really produce and sell the winning design with the most votes?
99.9% of the time, yes. Unless:- We determine that your design doesn’t meet our Technical Guidelines provided in the 1-daytee submission kit or is in breach of our Terms and Conditions;
- We determine that the entry does not fulfil that month’s SMACKDOWN theme;
- We determine that the designer, or someone else, cheated to rig the vote in the winning design's favour;
- We determine that our screen printer can’t produce the design due to technical or physical limitations.
We suggest checking out our submission kit for all of the Technical Guidelines, Terms and Conditions, and to simply avoid disappointment. We reserve the right to make changes to any design for production purposes - for instance, reducing 4 colours to 3.
OK, but where can I find those Technical Guidelines?
The SMACKDOWN page has all of the information you will require, including our Technical Guidelines and Terms and Conditions. The designer who reads carefully now, avoids heartbreak later.Let’s cut to the chase, what do I get if my design wins?
The SMACKDOWN champion, (the design with the most votes) will receive $300, 2nd place receives $200 and 3rd place receives $100, but above and beyond all, the winners will be famous for a day. We’ll include a little bit about the designer when we sell their tee. -
